1. How long does the program take to implement?
The program is designed to incorporate in your existing curriculum so your timeline will vary. Generally, the program is implemented between 4 and 10 classroom hours.
2. What materials do I return?
Return a completed Scantron form for each student participating in the program, as well as the Program Evaluation. Thank you notes and program endorsement letters are also appreciated.
A postage paid envelope has been provided in the Teacher Folder.
3. How much does the program cost?
The Livingwise and WaterWise program are typically provided through a local sponsorship. Due to their contributions, the program is provided to local schools at no cost. Please call 1-888-GETWISE to determine if there is a sponsor in your area.
4. What do the program materials cover?
The Livingwise program emphasizes environmental education, introducing students to the concept of a resource, and then extending that knowledge to natural resources and the idea of renewable / nonrenewable resources in our daily lives.
The WaterWise program gives students and families a strong understanding of the nature and importance of water. Both programs include detailed materials, classroom activities, and resource saving products for use in students homes.
5. Is there a signup deadline to participate?
The program is offered on a first come-first serve basis until funding is exhausted.
6. Who usually sponsors the program?
Generally, local utilities, merchants, or government agencies sponsor our programs, though any group may be a sponsor.
7. How many kits can I receive?
The sponsor will provide as many kits as your classroom needs, until funding is depleted.
8. Is there someone who can speak in my school or classroom?
In most cases sponsors will accommodate requests to send a representative to your classroom. Please contact the program center with your request.
